Hosting the championship on their home turf, MRHS first took on the Amherst Vikings, who had knocked MRHS out of the provincial qualifier theyear before. On Friday, November 7, with a huge throng of blue and gold supporters cheering them on from the sidelines, and the MRHS Jazz Band urging them on, the Pitbulls downed the Vikings 5-2. MRHS keeper Bronwyn Cox made two timely saves early in the game as Katie Mitchell and Nathalie Steeves tallied twice and Bonnie MacNeil once in leading them to victory.
In the other semi-final game that day Forest Heights (Chester area) squeaked by New Glasgow 3-2. Playing in the beautiful fall sunshine for the second day in a row on Saturday, November 7, the Pitbulls were not to be denied. Behind the two goals by Heather O’Donnell and one by Katie MacDougall, MRHS built up a 3-0 lead by halftime. Later in the game Forest Heights notched their only goal as the Pitbulls captured their second Provincial win in three seasons.
