Description
The Tournament was International in scope with teams from England. Sweden, Portugal, Holland, France and Nova Scotia (2 teams in 1977). Eva Jessome, Technical Coordinator for Volleyball Nova Scotia, held Development Camps at Acadia University both years with selected participants from around the province. Middleton’s Hugh Laurence was part of the Camp’s coaching staff from 1973 to 1978. In 1977 a final clinic was held at Camp Hillies in Paradise for the Nova Scotia contingent.
In both 1976 and 1977 after some very competitive series of games in each Tournament a Team Nova Scotia came out on top! Volleyball Nova Scotia no doubt were very pleased with their victories, as were all Middletonians.
The Sports Heritage Wall of Fame is honoured to welcome these Team Members for U18 Volleyball representing Nova Scotia at the International Tachikarn Tournament – Susan Cunningham, Kelly Acker, Velma Noble, and Judy Peppard, as a most deserving Team Inductee.
