Description
Over her years at MRHS, she earned a long list of accolades, Top Rookie, MVP, All-Star, Best Offensive Player, Top Defensive Player, each one reflecting not only her skill but her consistency and leadership. She was a multi-sport athlete who excelled year-round, capturing provincial medals in badminton at the junior, intermediate, and senior levels while also being a scoring force and playmaker on the basketball court. In 2009, she was named Junior High Female Athlete of the Year, a fitting recognition for someone who seemed to elevate every team she joined.
Sunwen’s athletic journey didn’t stop at graduation. She went on to compete at the collegiate level, capturing the ACAA Women’s Doubles Championship and helping her team to a conference title that earned them a spot at Nationals. Even after competitive sport, she has stayed active and adventurous, turning her energy to pursuits like rock climbing and breakdancing, always embracing the joy of movement and challenge. She has always led not by shouting the loudest, but by showing up fully, committed, focused, and ready to give her best.
The Sports Heritage Wall of Fame is proud to welcome Sunwen Metler as a truly deserving Athlete Inductee.
