In MRHS Volleyball he played on the Junior Boys two years and two years on the Senior Boys, his final year as team captain and MVP. It was in Track and Field as a sprinter that Ryan excelled, dominating at the 100m and 200m throughout his six years at MRHS. Competing at the District level (Annapolis-Digby) he had 11 first place finishes, one second place and set 6 District records, 5 still standing two decades later.<\/p>\n
At the Regional level (Western Nova Scotia) he never left the podium, setting records in Junior Boys 100m and 200m which were later broken. At the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation Provincial Championship Ryan raced in 6 consecutive Finals in the 100m with 2 Gold and 3 Silver while in 5 consecutive Finals in the 200m he won 1 Gold and 2 Silver and 2 Bronze. His record of 12.1 seconds set in 1997 at NSSAF Provincials still stands for the 100m on a nonsynthetic track!<\/p>\n
Ryan ran four consecutive years at the Legion Nationals. In two years at U16 he came 4th in 100m and 5th in 200m; plus his Nova Scotia Team in the 4 X 100 Relay won both years. In his two years at U18 he came 12th in the 100m and his N.S. Team in the 4 X 100m Relay placed 4th yet established a Nova Scotia record. At the Canadian Junior Championships (age 19-21) Ryan placed in the top 20 in the 200m. He received the Tracey Blakeman Memorial Sportsmanship Award from Athletics Nova Scotia. Ryan Elmore was born in Middleton and excelled athletically from the time he entered MRHS through to Graduation in 2001.
