{"id":784,"date":"2015-04-19T15:48:47","date_gmt":"2015-04-19T15:48:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.middleton.mediajunction.ca\/?post_type=product&#038;p=784"},"modified":"2018-06-04T14:45:14","modified_gmt":"2018-06-04T14:45:14","slug":"hanson-dowell","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"http:\/\/www.middletonshwof.com\/?product=hanson-dowell","title":{"rendered":"Hanson Dowell"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Beginning in 1935, with the Central Valley League, from his home base in Middleton, he then served four years at the helm of the Maritime Amateur Hockey Association.\u00a0 Prior to his elevation as the first person from Atlantic Canada to become the President of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association from 1945-47, he had served for five years as Vice-President of the C.A.H.A.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Not content to rest on his laurels, Hanson served from 1956 to 1968 in the dual position of Secretary-Treasurer of the Maritime Amateur Hockey Association.\u00a0 From 1968 to 1974, he served as Treasurer for the Nova Scotia Hockey Association.\u00a0 He has been the recipient of numerous awards for his contribution to hockey and Canadian hockey has been enriched through the efforts of the Honorable Hanson T. Dowell.<\/p>\n<p>Outside of hockey circles, Hanson graduated from Dalhousie Law School in 1930 and served 33 years in the legal profession in Nova Scotia.\u00a0 He was M.L.A. for the constituency of Annapolis East from 1960 to 1963 and was appointed to the bench later in 1963 as a judge of the County Court for which he served until his retirement in 1981.\u00a0 He has also been inducted into the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame as a builder.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Born in Stewiacke, Hanson T.
