Description
Aubrey taught his first year in St Laurent, Quebec, before returning to MRHS where he had a most successful thirty-one year tenure teaching Physical Education and related subjects. Outside the gym and classroom he could be found coaching countless MRHS students from morning till night at the Senior and Junior High levels in sports such as: volleyball, soccer, badminton and track and field.
Aubrey’s teams always had his stamp of character upon them, were always successful and won many District and Regional Championships. However he was not really big on Championships but rather as Aubrey would state in his own words: “It always seemed special to see some of our athletes spread themselves over two, three, even four different sports during the school year and still be able to advance to the Provincial Track Meet in June and match up favourably often through sheer grit and determination against Provincial class competition who were often more ‘specialized’ in their approach to the sport.” This approach not only brings success in sports but also success in life later on for all of Aubrey’s athletes!
Aubrey is a most deserving member to the Sports Wall of Fame in the Builder category. Middleton and District sports have been greatly enriched by the coaching and teaching of Aubrey Morris for over thirty years.
