{"id":1532,"date":"2018-12-10T21:03:39","date_gmt":"2018-12-10T21:03:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.middletonshwof.com\/?post_type=product&#038;p=1532"},"modified":"2018-12-11T01:22:48","modified_gmt":"2018-12-11T01:22:48","slug":"monique-rafuse","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/www.middletonshwof.com\/?product=monique-rafuse","title":{"rendered":"Monique Rafuse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Grade 11 Monique was chosen Basketball MVP at MRHS leading MRHS to 5th Place at Provincials, as well as Best Overall Player in Intermediate Badminton at MRHS. In her Senior year Monique was Captain of the Basketball team and led her Volleyball team to a semi-final loss to West Hants at Western Regionals. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Upon graduation, University teams sought out Monique for both Volleyball and Basketball. She settled on Volleyball at Saint Mary\u2019s University for their first season as a Varsity team, where she promptly won Team MVP, in leading them to a 7 \u2013 9 win-loss record . During her career at SMU, enroute to a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, she won numerous Tournament MVP\u2019s and Athlete of the Week citations while remaining in the Top Ten for collegiate middle-blockers nationally. In 1991-92 Monique was named to the AUAA All-Star team. In her final year she was named SMU Female Athlete of the Year and was selected to play for the Canadian National Team, though declining the opportunity. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since her graduation she has continued to play recreational Beach Volleyball, Basketball, Tennis, and running road races, recently completing her first Marathon. She has also given back to her sports community having coached both Basketball and Volleyball at the Junior High and Senior High levels. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Sports Heritage Wall of Fame is honoured to welcome Monique Rafuse as a most deserving Athlete Inductee.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Monique Rafuse was born in Middleton and was a standout athletically throughout her school years. At MRHS she began to excel at basketball, volleyball, track and field, and badminton. In Grade 9 at MRHS she was selected Most Valuable Player of the Junior Girls Basketball team.
