In 1963 he passed the required testing to earn his IAABO (International Association of Approved Basketball Officials) and FIBA certification, as well a College Board appointment permitting him to referee University Basketball. For JC there was no looking back!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the high school level JC refereed many boys and girls games both at his home school gym in Middleton where he taught but also at schools throughout the Valley and indeed the Province. He refereed many tournaments throughout the Nova Scotia including many Provincial Championship medal games from 1970 to 1981. From 1970 to 1981 he served at Valley West Assigner for all games and Valley Evaluator of officials.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the college level JC worked games throughout the numerous institutions in Nova Scotia, and often twice a year to both Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick and UPEI in Charlottetown, including AUS Playoff tournaments from 1970 &#8211; 1978. He was the first basketball official to do a University game in the Halifax Forum, Metro Centre and the two new gyms at Acadia and St. FX. JC was the first Atlantic official to referee at a National university tournament at Waterloo University in 1977. He turned down an offer to officiate at the Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976 due to work commitments!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Sports Heritage Wall of Fame is honoured to welcome Jim Mosher as a most deserving Builder Inductee.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jim Mosher or JC as he is best known was born in Yarmouth coming from the Gateway Town he was a natural athlete as a youth and a valued member of the Basketball teams at Yarmouth Consolidated Memoria High School and Acadia University. In 1954 he officiated his first basketball game while still a high school player. While an Acadia freshman 1956 he voluntarily refereed a Horton Academy high school game prior to Acadia varsity men\u2019s game.
