He does not own the various recreational facilities in the Town of Middleton, as thought by some, but certainly was the driving force behind the creation of the Centennial Swimming Pool in 1967, the Middleton and District Arena in 1970 and the Rotary Raceway Park in 1984 \u2014 not to mention the Sports Heritage Wall of Fame in 1998.<\/p>\n
A McGill graduate in physical education, Al taught at Middleton Regional High School for 16 years at a time when the phys. ed. teacher was responsible for organization and coaching most of the high school teams including coaching hockey for 37 years.\u00a0 His teaching was followed by 21 years as a school administrator during which he was still called coach by many kids in a variety of sports.\u00a0 He has been active in organizing and\/or coaching track and field, hockey, baseball, swimming, basketball, fitness classes and, in more recent years, horseshoes and slow-pitch softball.\u00a0 A member of the Board of Directors of the Middleton and District arena for the past thirty years typifies Pep’s loyalty and commitment to a task.<\/p>\n
Al has received numerous awards for his involvement in track and field, hockey, swimming, horseshoes and physical education.\u00a0 The residents of Middleton and the surrounding area are extremely familiar with his boundless energy and enthusiasm.\u00a0 He devotes whatever spare time he has left to his church, the Rotary Club and the Masons.<\/p>\n
