Description
Bonnie always played local soccer in the Summer. Her Sidekicks team was inducted in 2012 for winning Tier II Provincials with the U-17 in 1997 and the U-18 in both 1998 and 1999. Her MRHS team won the Division II Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation title in 1998-99. Bonnie was also very adept in volleyball, with her Middleton Magic club team winning a Provincial Championship and advancing to the Eastern Canadians.
At MRHS her volleyball team won the NSSAF Division II Bronze in 1997-98 and Silver in 1998-99. High Jumping was where Bonnie’s star shone brightest. She won the NSSAF Championship for Intermediate in 1996-97 and Senior in both 1997-98 and 1998-99. At MRHS she was recognized for these fine efforts by being named Most Outstanding Player for Track and Field in 1997-98 and then Most Valuable Player in 1998-99. Bonnie also attended two Royal Canadian Legion Track and Field Nationals for High Jump. At Dalhousie University she did Varsity High Jump and, for all three years from 1999 – 2002, her team won the Atlantic University Sport Team Championship and, individually, she received the All Canadian Award for Excellence in Academics and Track and Field. Due to her great prowess in all four sports, the Sports Heritage Wall of Fame is honoured to welcome Bonnie as an eminently deserving inductee.
