Description
From 1941-46, Carl served in the Canadian Army retiring with the rank of Captain. In 1944, his team out of Aldershot were Valley Senior Baseball Champs.
In 1946, Carl Batted 0.325 with the Cards and 0.406 in their final series loss to the Truro Bearcats. From 1947-50, he performed admirably as the Card second sacker in the import-laden H & D League. Carl was also quite adept in curling, golf, hunting and fishing.
In 1948, he established Bruce Motors Ltd., a successful Chevrolet-Oldsmobile dealership and operated it until retirement in 1993. Carl served as both Mayor and Town Councillor in Middleton, as the first Chairman of the Annapolis Vocational School, on the Board of Governors of Acadia University, with the Middleton Development Corporation and on both the Canadian and U.S. General Motors Dealer Councils as Eastern Canada Representative.
Carl Bruce has served the Middleton area for well over sixty years, both on the playing fields and as a civic leader.
