In high school, he participated in numerous sports, but excelled in both hockey and track and field where he was team captain in 1946-47 and 1947-48.
Martin set off for McGill University in Montreal where from 1949 to 1954 he was a varsity athlete in wrestling, track and field, Canadian football, hockey and Harriet (long-distance running). In 1950-51 and 1951-52 he was Captain of the McGill University National Intercollegiate Wrestling Championships in both those years. At McGill Mark was again active in student government and the military. In 1950-51 class president of McGill University. He was a member of the Canadian Officer Training achieving the rank of captain in the Canadian Army Militia. Mark graduated from McGill with his Bachelor of Physical Education.
From 1954 to 1956 Mark was a Physical Education teacher, athletic director and very successful multisport coach at Sackville High School in New Brunswick. 56 he returned to McCue to study dentistry and graduated in 1960 with his doctorate. Brooklyn and outstanding athlete award from the kill 50s. In retirement he now lives in White Rock, British Columbia.
