He obtained his Bachelor of Education at Acadia University and his MEd at Mount St. Vincent’s. Venturing out into the real world Trevor taught for two years at Margaretsville Elementary and did programs in Soccer, Wrestling and Cross-Country, followed by two years at AWEC in Annapolis Royal and two years at the Alternate School in Lawrencetown while running programs in Badminton, Track and Field, Soccer and Wrestling. Finally Trevor arrived as the Physical Education Teacher at Middleton Regional High School where his coaching career really took off.
Trevor continued to assist with Soccer, Wrestling, Track and Field and Badminton Programs as well as an Assistant Coach for over a decade in hockey with Middleton Mustangs, Western Valley Spartans, and Valley Wild at various times. Many of the teams won numerous tournaments with Trevor’s assisting.
Volleyball has been Coach Connell’s major focus! Along with Jan Davis they created the Middleton Magic Girls Volleyball Club in 1992 with Trevor serving as Head Coach through to 2018. In that span they won 6 Nova Scotia Provincial Championships – 1993, 1997, 1998, 2010, 2012, 2013 – and numerous Silver and Bronze finishes. Over these same 26 years Trevor served as Coach of the MRHS Senior Girls Packers/ Monarchs Volleyball Teams, winning NSSAF Provincial Championships in Division 2 in 2004-05 and 200607 along with numerous Provincial Silver and Bronze wins and Regional (Western N.S.) Championships.
Both Magic and Packers/Monarchs teams won myriad local and invitational tournaments. Trevor was Head Coach of the Nova Scotia Provincial Female Volleyball Team in 1997, 1998, 2001 nabbing a 4th Place finish in 1998 at the Canada Volleyball Eastern Elite Championship. The Sports Heritage Wall of Fame is honoured to welcome Trevor Connell as a most deserving Builder Inductee
