Description
Cheryle has her NCCP National Level 3 certification. She has been a Skate Canada Coach Developer and Evaluator. She has Coached numerous Special Olympics entrants. She has coached for Canada Games in 1999, 2015, 2019 and 2023. Over her career Cheryle has received many honours, such as a National 3M Coaching Award 1994, Skate Nova Scotia Coach of the Year and Ricoh Award 1996, Skate NS Coach of the Year and ikon Award in both 2007 and 2011, Best of the Best Canskate Coach Award 2008, Skate NS Volunteer Coach of the Year 2012, Skate NS Club and Recreation Coach of the Year 2013, Skate NS Competitive Coach of the Year 2016, and the Skate Canada National Grassroots and Star Development Coach of the Year 2023.
Cheryle has also been Choreographer for both Skate Canada events in Halifax in 1996, 1997, and 2007 as well as Skate NS annual celebration from 2005 to the present. Cheryle is best described in her own words: “Coaching is the opportunity to open the heart and soul of an individual to the possibility they may experience something rewarding, challenging, exciting all at the same time. If I am successful, they will have found their passion, as I have found mine.”
