Description
Karla went to Nova Scotia Teachers College graduating from the three year program and playing on the Soccer Team, followed by completion of her Bachelor of Education at Acadia University and later a Master of Education from Mount St. Vincent.
From 1982-85 she founded and Coached the Lawrencetown Lazers Swim Teams. Beginning her teaching career at BRHS, Karla Coached Senior Boys Volleyball and Track and Field for six years from 1986 to 1992. She then taught and Coached Senior Girls Soccer and Track and Field at Annapolis West Education Centre for one year.
In 1993 Karla came to Middleton Regional High School to teach and Coach and has successfully completed twenty-four years of both for the great benefit of Middleton area youth. Over that period she Coached Junior High Soccer from 1993 to 2005, winning a Regional Banner and laying the groundwork for MRHS’s first NSSAF Senior Girls Division II win in 1997. Karla then Coached Senior High Girls Soccer from 2006 to 2015. She has also Coached Track and Field from 2012 to the present. In addition between 2002 – 2013 she Coached Middleton Girls Summer Soccer eight seasons.
Karla received the Award of Excellence from her peers in the Nova Scotia Teachers Association for Physical and Health Eduction for AVRSB in 2016. The Sports Heritage Wall of Fame is honoured to welcome Karla Britney as a most deserving Builder.
