Les refereed basketball for over twenty years advancing to the level of Junior Varsity Mens and Varsity Ladies. He also refereed volleyball for many years including twice at the CIAU National Championships. Les holds the Level 2 Hockey and Level 2 Coaching Theory with the NCCP and has coached and served on the Executives for Middleton and District Minor Hockey, Minor Soccer and Minor Softball.
Les has served for over sixteen years on the Middleton and District Rink Commission as Director, Vice Chairman and Chairman for three years. In addition, he also served on the Middleton and District Recreation Commission. As a stalwart member of the Middleton Rotary Club for over 15 years, Les served as both Chair and Co-Chair of the Building Committee for the Rotary Raceway Park and later as a member of the Rotary Riverside Park Committee.
Les attended Acadia for a year before deciding that the business world was more to his liking than university. He went to work with Bruce Chev-Olds Ltd. in 1974, rising through the ranks to become owner on January 1, 1996. Even through work Les contributes tremendously to sports in Middleton through the provision of the MRHS Sports Shuttle Van.
