Upon entering Middleton Regional High School (MRHS), Rachel excelled in soccer, volleyball, basketball, and track and field, earning numerous accolades and recognition for her outstanding performances. From 2012-2017, Rachel was awarded the Most Outstanding Track and Field Athlete, and in 2013, she also secured the Junior Girls Volleyball MVP. During her 2014 year, Rachel was given the Junior Girls Soccer MVP, Junior Girls Volleyball Most Outstanding Player, and Junior Girls Basketball Most Outstanding Player.
Rachel’s success continued into senior high school, where she maintained excellence across multiple sports. In the 2015 Track and Field Provincials, she placed 3rd in Hurdles, 2nd in Long Jump, and won gold in the Triple Jump. This trend continued as Rachel again competed at the Provincials in 2016 and 2017, where she went on to become a Provincial Champion in three separate events. In her graduating year of 2017, Rachel was honoured as the Senior Girls Volleyball Most Outstanding Player, given the award for Senior Girls Basketball Leadership and Dedication, and rounded the year out as the Senior Female Athlete of the Year. At the time of her graduation in 2017, Rachel held the Western Region Track and Field records for Junior, Intermediate, and Senior Girls Long Jump and Triple Jump – records that she still holds today.
Rachel’s talent extended beyond regional and provincial competitions. She competed at the Legion Youth National Track and Field Championships four times, earning a silver medal in the Triple Jump in 2014 in Langley, British Columbia. In 2017, she represented Team Nova Scotia in the Long Jump at the Canada Games in Winnipeg, Manitoba. After graduating from MRHS, Rachel attended the University of Western Ontario on an academic and track and field scholarship. She continued to excel, contributing to the OUA Track and Field Silver Medal team in 2019.
Rachel’s athletic journey is a testament to her unwavering dedication, versatility, and excellence in sports. The Sports Heritage Wall of Fame is honoured to welcome Rachel Holland as a most deserving Athlete Inductee.
