Description
The season began with adversity. Due to a snowy winter, all team practices were cancelled, leaving the girls without practice sessions before their first tournament in February. Despite this setback, the Magic headed to Pine Ridge Middle School and West Kings. Magic won each of their games, advancing to the championship. Demonstrating exceptional teamwork and tenacity, the team clinched their first tournament victory, setting a positive tone for the rest of the season.
On March 28th and 29th, the Magic participated in their second tournament at St. Mary’s University. With only 7 of their 12 players able to attend, the team delivered strong performances against the Cape Breton Attackers, Cape Breton Force, Storm, and Southwest Fusion, showcasing their skill and determination.
Coming into the third tournament of the year at Elizabeth Sutherland School, the Magic competed in the Tier 1 division. The sight of the tall and skilled opposing teams intimidated some of the newer players, but the Magic faced their fears head-on. Although they did not win any games in this tournament, the experience brought the team closer together and strengthened their resolve.
The highlight of the season was the Provincials held at the Canada Games Centre on April 24th and 25th. On the first day, the Magic faced Digby, Cape Breton Force, and Southwest Fusion, winning enough games to advance to the second day’s round-robin. Their stellar performance continued on day two, propelling them into the championship game against Digby. The championship match was fiercely contested, with the lead switching multiple times between the two teams. The U14 Magic fought valiantly, and their hard work and determination culminated in victory, earning them the title of U14 Tier 2 Girls Volleyball Champions.
The 2015 season was a remarkable journey for the Middleton Magic U14 Girls Volleyball team. Overcoming a lack of practice, snowy weather, and tough competition, the team displayed unwavering dedication and teamwork. The Sports Heritage Wall of Fame is honoured to welcome the 2015 Middleton Magic U14 Girls Volleyball team as a most deserving Team Inductee.
