Description
In the Spring of 2023 Brian ran the Tokyo (Japan) Marathon thus completing all six of the Abbott World Major Marathons – 26.2 miles or 43.195 kilometers. It was the largest group ever to complete all six Majors for which they were inducted into the Guinness World Book of Records 2023. His times and years for the Majors include: Boston in 2017 4:17:31, New York City in 2018 4:20:54, Chicago in 2018 4:40:34, Berlin (Germany) in 2019 4:24:03, London (United Kingdom) in 2022 5:05:34, and finally Tokyo in 2023 5:08:40. The Tokyo Marathon attracted 350,000 applicants with only 11,500 entrants accepted. Fine times for a good Marathoner in his sixties and in the last two in his 70’s! Only 11,000 Marathoners world-wide have attained the coveted Six Stars and entitlement to the Abbot Hall of Fame, which includes only 238 Canadian Women and 281 Canadian Males. Entrance to most major Marathons is based on qualifying times, other marathon results, luck of the draw, or combination thereof. After Tokyo, Brian once more ran the Boston Marathon, thus completing his 42nd Marathon to date.
From 2009 to 2019 on Roadmasters.com site it shows Brian ran all the major marathons in the Maritimes including: Valley Harvest, Scotiabank, Johnny Miles, By the Sea, Fiddlers, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Fredericton and Bluenose, all with respectable times just over 4 hours and few minutes. He has also run races of shorter distances such as Half-Marathons, 10 km, 5 mi, 5 km, and 3 mi. In the ten year span from 2009 to 2019 he ran in 56 recorded races in the Maritimes plus many elsewhere. Brian has also given back to his sport as a member of Run Nova Scotia, Greenwood Running Company, Middleton Running Club, and running programs with Middleton Recreation
