Description
From 1964 to ’74 Bob volunteered in the Scouting movement organizing from Cubs to Venturers; he also volunteered and instructed with St. John Ambulance Brigade. In basketball he was coach of both Junior and Senior Boys teams at Lawrencetown Consolidated School, Assistant Coach of Senior Boys at Bridgetown Regional High School. Beginning in 2000 he founded, organized and operated the Mid Annapolis Valley Kinsman Junior Boys Basketball Tournament at MRHS.
In 1974 Bob served as Vice President of the Bluenose Baseball League the forerunner of the Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League. For four years he served as Assistant Coach of the Junior Boys and later Senior Boys Volleyball team at L.C.S.
Having a head for numbers he has handled many a statistician job. Two years he served in that position for Annapolis Habitation Realities of the Valley Fastball League; he must have acquired the skills from his stint in League Statistician in the mid 1960’s for the Hockey League operating out of Middleton – Lawrencetown – Bridgetown. From 2002-04 Bob served as official scorer and announcer for MRHS Martens basketball games as well as Junior Girls Regionals and the Division II Provincial Girls.
In 1998 Bob was a founding member of the Wall of Fame and served four years as Treasurer and Director. In 1996 he was presented Life Membership in the Association of Kinsman Clubs. Bob taught primarily math, both Junior and Senior High School students in Lawrencetown and later Bridgetown for thirty-three years before retirement in 1996.
